Faculty of Military Education was founded in 1998 on the basis of Military Department. The Faculty gives additional military education to male students of the University. The additional education is free of charge. The graduates of the faculty receive the military rank of reserve officer.

Students can start their military education in their second year (the 4th semester). The program lasts 2.5 years. Once a week students have a so-called ‘military day’ from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. The classes include physical and psychological training, self-training and discussions.

Faculty graduates do not have to do military service in the Russian Army Forces in peacetime, except for the cases when a graduate prefers to join the army voluntarily. Faculty Professors are well-known and respected Military officers, who took part in real military operations. All of the former and working members of the faculty are awarded by many medals of Honor.
