About the Library

Welcome! Our Library provides access to a wealth of information as well as many services to help you succeed at Kazan National Research Technological University. We invite you to discover the broad range of help available to you—from study space to research assistance—as well as what is new in the library departments.

The library opened its doors in June 1897. The Library soon became the only library in Kazan, where technical literature was collected. During World War II, the evacuated Leningrad Research Institute gave over 2000 items of books to the library and greatly contributed to the development and fostering of the chemical science in Kazan.

Some Facts

  • the Library has got 11 reading rooms and 7 lending libraries;
  • the Library contains over 2 mln books, including electronic books and microforms;
  • the Library has a subscription to a number of printed and electronic magazines, journals, and newspapers;
  • the Library has over 50200 readers, including students, Ph.D. students, Professors, Researchers, and etc;
  • the number of books lent is over 800000;
  • as a depository for foreign publications, the Library receives materials from various foreign and federal agencies.

The Media department of our library started working in 1992. Now it contains vast lists of titles in various formats such as videocassettes, compact discs, DVDs, and computer software. Automated informational system “MARC” has been obtained and installed.

Historical materials pertaining to the creation of chemical technologies are located in special archives. The automated library catalog has replaced the traditional card catalog. An increasing number of online databases offer on-campus and off-campus access to magazines, journals and e– books, many in full text.

Professional staff members are available to assist students in their search for information. The team of reference and instruction librarians can help you identify the most current and best resources in your field, assist you with library research strategies, develop course and subject guides to improve student research capabilities, deliver library instruction to your students, and work with faculty and graduate students to improve our collections

The funds of the Library are open 94 hours per week and keep extended hours during examination period.
