Associate Professor of the Department of Synthetic Rubber Technology at KNRTU, Dina Fazylova, delivered a course of lectures on Organic Chemistry to students at the Liaoning Petrochemical College (China).
The lectures were conducted in English. To overcome the language barrier, the college uses digital simultaneous interpreting technology, where the classroom is equipped with a system that displays real-time subtitles of the lecture on a screen. Additionally, Chinese organic chemistry professors provided assistance by translating complex concepts for the students.
According to Dina Ildarovna, teaching at a Chinese college is an amazing experience that is characterized by a special attitude towards the teacher. The students are sincerely grateful for every explanation, which creates a very warm atmosphere. The students are highly motivated, understanding that a good education is the key to a successful career, and they are willing to work hard.
"Going to China to teach is not just a job. It is an immersion into a different educational culture. Teaching experience in China broadens horizons, shapes new neural connections, expands professional experience and improves my teaching skills", - shares her impressions Dina.
She also noted that China impressed her with its beauty, the combination of ancient traditions and modern technologies. The Chinese system of professional education impresses with its structuredness, applied orientation and active use of digital technologies, and Chinese students with their motivation and respect for knowledge.
"Yes, there will be challenges: language barrier, different teaching styles, cultural differences. But that's what makes the experience valuable. I come home not only with new professional skills, but also with a deeper understanding of how education works in another part of the world. And with warm memories of students who, after a challenging lecture, come up to me and say, "谢谢老师" (thank you, teacher). It's worth it," said the associate professor at KNRTU.
