KNRTU has been developing successful cooperation with CIS countries for quite a long time. Thus, on August 29, the university was visited by professors from Tashkent State Transport University Ahmadjon Ibadullaev and Elmira Teshabaeva.

"Historically, the Republic of Uzbekistan is closely connected with Russia," said KNRTU Acting Rector Yury Kazakov. - “Our countries have strong ties in both cultural and scientific areas”. According to Natalya Bashkirtseva, Dean of the Faculty of Petroleum and Petrochemistry, cooperation between the universities has been continuing for six years. During this time about 60 Master's Degree students have been trained. Today, the university is also planning to develop cooperation with other higher education institutions of Uzbekistan, mostly technical ones, where such fields of study as petrochemistry and oil refining are actively developing.

"We could possibly open a branch of your university in Tashkent", suggested Ahmajon Ibadullayev, professor of the Department of Engineering Communications and Systems at TSTU. - "Even after the dissolution of the Soviet Union, Russian language hasn't lost its importance in Uzbekistan, there are many Russian schools. Besides, specialists from Russia are highly regarded in our republic. Now we are planning to develop deep processing of hydrocarbons in order to raise production costs and increase the number of jobs, which means that the demand for qualified specialists in the industry might grow as well".
