Oleg V. Mikhailov is the author of over 1,300 publications in nine languages (Russian, English, Dutch, Japanese, Hungarian, Czech, Spanish, Tatar and Mongolian). He wrote 19 books, including 14 individual monographs published in the main Academic Publishing Houses of the Russian Federation. Professor Mikhailov authored about 50 review papers (over 30 of them are published in international journals), over 270 papers in 30 leading Russian journals, over 350 papers in more than 60 international research journals with high impact factor, (Multidisciplinary Digital Publishing Institute, Elsevier, Springer, Taylor & Francis, World Scientific Publishing) and indexed in international citation databases Web of Science / Scopus. Oleg V Mikhailov is also the author of 125 inventions.

Professor Mikhailov was research supervisor of 12 projects of the Russian Foundation for Basic Research (research projects in 1996-1998, 2006-2008, 2009-2011, 2010-2012, 2014-2015, publishing grants in 2003 and 2006), for writing popular scientific articles in 1999, 2000, 2006, 2012, 2014. Professor Mikhailov received grant from Award Center of the Russian Foundation for Basic Research (1998), 3 grants of Tatarstan Academy of Sciences (research projects in 2001-2002 and 2003-2005, publishing project in 2002), and Soros Foundation grant (ISSEP, 1998).

Professor Mikhailov is a well-known science communicator, the author of 5 popular scientific books (without co-authors) and over 60 articles in popular scientific journals. Professor Mikhailov is a five-time winner of RFBR awards for the best popular scientific paper (1999, 2000, 2006, 2012, 2014).

Oleg V. Mikhailov is an Editorial Board Member of International Journal of Molecular Science, published by Multidisciplinary Digital Publishing Institute (MDPI) in section “Physical Chemistry & Chemical Physics’. In 2019-2022 he was invited as a Guest Editor of seven special issues of International Journal of Molecular Science, Materials, Molecules, Publications, and Inorganics, published by MDPI and indexed in Web of Science / Scopus. At the beginning of 2022, h-index of Oleg V. Mikhailov in Web of Science was 23, in Scopus – 22.
