First Defense of Graduate Qualification Work under the Joint Supervision of KNRTU and the Merseburg University of Applied Sciences

Anja Knolle, a student from the Merseburg University of Applied Sciences, who in July 2019 conducted research at the KNRTU Department of Social Work, Pedagogy and Psychology (SWPP), successfully defended the graduate qualification work "Foreseeing the Understanding of the Profession: an Empirical Research Project on Professional Self-Awareness in Russia" (“Weitblick Professionalverstaendnis. Ein empirisches Forschungsprojekt zum professionellen Selbstverstaendnis in Russland”) under the joint supervision of Christian Paulik (University of Merseburg) and Roman Kupriyanov (KNRTU).

This is the first successful experience of joint supervision of graduate qualification works at the Faculty of Social Work of the University of Merseburg (HoMe) and the Faculty of Social Engineering Systems of KNRTU.

The subject of scientific interest was professionalism in social work. Anna studied the motivation for choosing the profession in the field of social works in Russia and Germany. Together with KNRTU student - Anastasia Likhomanova, she conducted a series of interviews with social workers employed at Kazan social institutions.

Anja Knolle wrote the following about impressions of her stay in Kazan: "Kazan is an impressive and beautiful city with a lot of attractions. Thanks to the kindness of people, the city will always remain in my memory. I hope that many students will take advantage of this wonderful opportunity for international exchange."

The Department of SWPP under the leadership of Nailia Valeeva actively develops international cooperation in the framework of joint training of students and postgraduates. An agreement on joint supervision of graduate work was reached during the visit of colleagues from the Faculty of Social Work of Merseburg University to KNRTU, and, at the same time, the Protocol of Intent was signed. It outlines the main positions on expanding cooperation and interaction in the area of Social Work between two universities.
