From 12 to 18 of December, 2021, the Turkish delegation from Eskisehir Technical University (ESTU) visited KNRTU. ESTU was represented by Head of Department of Chemical Engineering, Prof., Dr. Nezihe Ayas, Erasmus+ Departmental Coordinator, Assoc. Prof., Dr. Yeşim Güçbilmez and Erasmus+ Departmental Assistant Coordinator, Res. Assist., Dr. Elif Kaynak Uraz.

In the framework of our partners’ one-week visit, seminars on relevant topics in the field of chemical engineering were held at our university by both ESTU and KNRTU professors.

Thus, on December 12, Dr. Elif Kaynak Uraz gave her speech on international projects carried out at ESTU as well as on Turkish education system on the whole. She also facilitated seminar on Mathematical Modeling in Chemical Engineering, that was held on December 13.

On the same day, professor of KNRTU Physical and Colloid Chemistry Department Dr. Azat Bilalov held training on Bioinspired systems, that was attended by our colleagues from ESTU and Master’s students. The topic of Dr. Bilalov’s seminar comes from the idea of taking inspiration from nature and turning it into something that we can use for technical purposes. Both students and professors were impressed by such a creative approach to the study of technologies.

Head of Department of Chemical Engineering, Prof., Dr. Nezihe Ayas shared her experience in renewable energy, which is the field of her scientific research. Master’s degree students, studying Smart Materials and Molecular Engineering at the Department of Physical and Colloid Chemistry were interested in the seminar’s topic and asked questions. Professor Ayas was glad to answer all of them, so everyone had an opportunity to discuss different aspects of the renewable energy issues with her.

On December 16, two final seminars took place at KNRTU Physical and Colloid Chemistry Department. Dr. Yeşim Güçbilmez facilitated seminar on Nanomaterials and Oxidation Reaction, while Dr. Artem N. Bezrukov presented Microfluidic Techniques for Chemical Engineering Processes. The seminar topic of professor Bezrukov aroused our partners’ great interest. They shared their own experience in the relevant scientific areas and told about research projects of their students.

Summing up, we can confirm that a week-long series of seminars with the participation of our partners from Eskisehir Technical University and KNRTU professors and students was held in a very fruitful and informative way. During the classes, the participants were lucky to have the opportunity not only to exchange their experience and best practices in certain research areas, but also to immerse themselves in the international academic environment thanks to our Turkish guests.
