The Course on EU Textile Strategy Started

On February, 14, 2022, the first class in the course “EU Textile Strategy” was given to BEng students by Dr. Irina Krasina, Chair for the Department of Technology of Chemical and Natural Fibers and Articles. The first lecture focused on the general issues of textile industry in the European Union countries.

During the practicum, students in teams learnt different facts about the modern types of yarn produced in the European Union from natural and synthetic fibers. Using microscopes and other devices, students learnt the techniques to define the textile fiber composition. For the next class, students received a task to prepare and share their reports on new materials in the EU textile industry.

This course is a part of “Textile Materials Science” discipline given in Russian. During the semester, the course will cover the topics:

The course includes lectures and practicums covering the following topics:

1. The EU textile sectors and their main areas of development
2. New materials for textile production
3. Modern assortment of yarns from natural and chemical fibres
4 The use of nanotechnology in EU for creating modern textile materials
5. Innovative EU textile weaving and knitting technologies
6. Current trends and developments in EU nonwoven textile materials production
7. EU research in geotextiles and agrotextiles
8. EU innovation in production of materials for special purposes
9. Green technologies in textile production in EU countries
