On February, 21, 2022, the course “EU Environmentally Friendly Chemical Technologies” started for BEng students by Dr. Veronika Bronskaya, an Associate Professor at the Department of Technology of Chemical and Natural Fibers and Articles.

One of the course topics is green chemistry, and EU experience in this field. Under this topic, the students learnt about green chemistry as the study of chemical processes in atmosphere, hydrosphere, lithosphere, and biosphere. They also got a general overview of the existing methods to analyze and prevent pollution. Moreover, the students learnt soma facts about the existing methods of laboratory and computer simulation of these chemical processes.

This course is a part of “Textile Materials Science” discipline given in Russian. During the semester, the course will cover the topics:

1. Overview of EU policy to support innovative chemical engineering methods:

- European Institute of Innovation and Technology, other partnerships and platforms
- European PRO INNO initiative
- European Union Innovation Policy
- Innovation Union Program – Information Society Transition Concept

2. EU Best Practices to Promote Green Chemistry and Sustainable Development. EU experience

3. Functions and responsibilities of industrial enterprises

4. Universities and centres of competence in industry as drivers of EU textile and chemical technology development

5. European chemical associations (European Solvents Industry Group, European Petrochemical Manufacturers Association, European Chemical Distributors Association, European Plastics and Rubber Manufacturers Association, European Chemical and Molecular Sciences Association, European Geochemical Association, European Chemical Industry Council)
