On October 25, KNRTU hosted special guests- Consul General of Turkmenistan in Kazan Guich Garayev and Third Secretary of Consulate General Ashirali Nazarov. The diplomatists held a working meeting with the head of the university Yury Kazakov, as well as discussed some relevant topics with Turkmen students studying at KNRTU. The purpose of the visit was mainly to get acquainted with the university and its administration, since Guich Garayev has been appointed to a new diplomatic post recently and hasn’t been to Tatarstan ever before.

Opening the meeting, Yury Kazakov emphasized the importance of cooperation with the diplomatic mission of Turkmenistan, since "Turkmen students make up more than two-thirds of the total number of KNRTU international students. Many petrochemical and food industry enterprises of the republic are interested in our graduates. Even in recent years, despite the covid pandemic and new challenges in global politics, KNRTU is still very popular among the Turkmen schools graduates, who want to continue their education in Russia".

"More than 30 thousand of our students study in Russia, most of them in the Republic of Tatarstan", – the Consul General said. Future students and their parents, in his opinion, are particularly attracted by friendly attitude towards international students in Kazan, as well as cultural proximity of Turkmenistan and Tatarstan. He also noted a thorough approach to the organization of the study and residence both on the territory of the republic and in specific campuses.

The parties emphasized the effectiveness of cooperation between the Consulate General and the university. The diplomats are interested not only in study environment and living conditions, but also in what problems young citizens of Turkmenistan face in the host country.

Following the meeting, the parties agreed to remain in touch, as well as to send letters of thanks through diplomatic channels to the parents of those students who have achieved high results in studies, science, sports and social activities.
