KNRTU-KRAUSSMAFFEI: NO EQUIPMENT SIMILAR IN RUSSIA

26.04.2023

A specialised centre was opened on the basis of KNRTU for the development of scientific directions on creation of new polymer composite materials and products from them. The cost of the installed equipment is more than 20 million rubles. Participation of our university in the federal program Priority 2030 made the creation of the centre with state-of-the-art technology possible.

“The injection moulding machine is a part of the latest range of electric automatic moulding machines. KraussMaffei is a world-leading company in this field. Trainees will have the opportunity to gain theoretical and practical knowledge of thermoplastic injection moulding using KraussMaffei’s long-term experience. At the end of the training courses, trainees will receive certificates from both KNRTU and company”, – explained Anton Nikiforov, Associate Professor of the Elastomers Chemistry and Processing Technology Department.

Furthermore, the centre’s activities are aimed at developing additional professional education programmes for polymer processing specialists. The centre is currently working on the development of new materials under the agreement with Urals Chrysotile LLC. New materials on the basis of biodegradable medical polymers for resorbable biliary stents and plates for osteosynthesis are being created. Work is planned with Tekhnologiya LLC to develop products from superconstructive plastics for the defence industry.

According to Svetoslav Volfson, Head of the Elastomers Chemistry and Processing Technology Department, the students can gain both new knowledge and experience working with the most modern industrial equipment, making it easier to adapt to companies after graduation.

The Acting Rector of KNRTU Yury Kazakov pointed out during the opening ceremony that the university plans to expand the scientific and educational centre in the nearest future by placing it on 600 square metres, where a processing centre and a catalysis laboratory will operate. Thus, KNRTU will be able not only to train highly qualified specialists, but also to conduct scientific research.
