Associate Professor of the Department of Service Technologies Essam Abdel Wahed Abdallah Mahmoud participated in the international research and practice conference “Historical personalities of Desht-i-Kipchak: Baybars and his period”, which was held on October 3, 4 in Atyrau, Kazakhstan. The conference was dedicated to the 800th anniversary of the Egyptian Sultan Baybars I.

The international conference was organized by the Department of Culture and Language Development and the Regional Historical and Local History Museum with the support of the Atyrau Region Akimat. The main objectives of the event were popularization and attracting the attention of researchers to the study of the life path of the ruler, outstanding statesman Sultan Baybars.

The conference brought together researchers from different scientific centers (Egypt, Turkey, Russia, Uzbekistan, Kazakhstan). During the conference, the issues of historiography and source studies related to the personality of Sultan Baybars were discussed. Essam Abdel Wahed Abdallah Mahmoud made a report on the image of Sultan Baybars in the history of world cinema and talked about the role of Sultan Baybars in the history of Islam, his connection with the history of Egypt, as well as factual errors, encountered in feature and documentary films about the Sultan. A proposal was made to initiate the filming of a new documentary movie, containing as much reliable historical information about the life of the outstanding ruler as possible. The idea was supported and plans for its realization were included in the resolution of the conference.
