16.11.2023

On November 15, Rector of KNRTU Yury Kazakov had a meeting with the Professor of the Department of Analytical, Colloidal Chemistry and Technology of Rare Elements of Al-Farabi Kazakh National University, Academician of the National Academy of Science of Kazakhstan Sergey Efremov. Professor Efremov is one of the leading specialists in the field of composite materials, sorption engineering and technology. He gave a course of lectures for the students of KNRTU on the educational program "Polymer composites with dispersed fillers" within the framework of the grant program of the Government of the Republic of Tatarstan "Algarysh".

KazNU is the largest multidisciplinary university in Kazakhstan, developing educational programs and advanced research in the field of social and humanitarian, natural sciences and engineering disciplines. In the international global rating QS WUR it occupies the 150th position, and 16th place in the rating among the countries of Eastern Europe and Central Asia (QS World University Rankings EECA 2022). The Department of Analytical, Colloidal Chemistry and Technology of Rare Elements is one of the largest at the Faculty of Chemistry and Chemical Technology of the university. It also leads in the number of publications in Q1 and Q2 journals.

The parties discussed a wide range of issues related to the organization of the educational process and scientific research at both universities. Many differences have formed here during the period of existence of independent countries. But, in any case, as Sergey Efremov noted, the level of interaction between scientists of Kazakhstan, Russia and Belarus has noticeably increased in recent years: the establishment of contacts is facilitated by the common cultural base of the post-Soviet space, and the significant commonality of the problems faced by researchers in our countries. The parties agreed that the potential for interaction between Al-Farabi University and KNRTU is quite high.

The meeting was also attended by the Director of the Institute of Polymers of KNRTU Professor Oleg Stoyanov, Vice-Rector for Academic Affairs Dilbar Sultanova and Head of International Affairs Anna Sukhristina. The colleagues discussed the details of possible cooperation in the field of implementation of Master's degree programs taking into account the demands of the enterprises of Russia and Kazakhstan.
