19.02.2026

Advisor to the Rector of KNRTU, Professor Vladimir Kurashov is a member of the Scientific Council of the Russian Academy of Sciences on the History of Chemistry. The Scientific Council was established at the beginning of this year by a decree of the Presidium of the Russian Academy of Sciences in order to facilitate research on the history of chemistry, disseminate information about the development of chemical science and chemical technology and the achievements of chemists.

The Scientific Council was headed by an authoritative scientist, the patriarch of Russian chemistry, Academician Yuri Zolotov, and the Council included both chemists and representatives of the teaching community, media, and natural science museums (the Polytechnic Museum, the House Museum of Academicians Alexander Yerminigelovich and Boris Alexandrovich Arbuzov, and the Museum of the Kazan School of Chemistry).

"The new body replaced the Commission on the History of Chemistry of the Department of Chemistry and Materials Science of the Russian Academy of Sciences," Vladimir Kurashov commented on the news. — The elevation of the commission to the status of a scientific council of the academy (and in accordance with the academy’s statutes, such a council can, for example, nominate candidates for membership in the Russian Academy of Sciences) highlights the importance of the work carried out by colleagues within the commission and now within the council, who are experts in both current issues and topics related to the history of science, technology, and engineering, as well as popularizers of the history of science and educators.
