Ekaterina Frantsuzova, a third-year student of the Institute of Light Industry Technology, Fashion, and Design at KNRTU, took part in the 6th Unique Russia Art and Industry Exhibition and Forum, which was held at the Gostiny Dvor in Moscow. This large-scale project brought together craftsmen, designers, and artisans from all over the country, showcasing the richness of Russia's cultural heritage and its contemporary interpretation.
As part of the forum, the Ethnopodium show was held, a project by the Eurasian Association of Ethnic Designers that brings together artists working at the intersection of tradition and contemporary fashion for the sixth time. The participants present national costumes in a modern interpretation, revealing the cultural code of the peoples of Eurasia through fabric, form, and details.
Ekaterina, who holds the title of Master of Folk-Art Crafts of the Republic of Tatarstan, took to the runway with a collection that seamlessly blended traditional motifs with the language of modern fashion. Her work showcased how folk art continues to thrive and evolve, resonating with a new generation.
Professor Natalia Tikhonova, Acting Director of ITLPMD, emphasized the significance of the student's participation in such a prestigious project:
"Ekaterina presented unique works inspired by Russian folk costume, combining traditional motifs with modern trends. Her artworks vividly demonstrate the vibrant development of folk crafts, confirming their significance and appeal to the younger generation."
The "Unique Russia" exhibition has traditionally become a point of attraction for craftsmen, designers, art historians, and anyone interested in preserving and promoting national artistic traditions. For a KSTU student, participating in such a project is not only a recognition, but also an opportunity to make a name for herself in the professional community, find like-minded people, and show that folk crafts are a living and evolving art form today.
