KNRTU TEAM IS THE BEST AT INTERNATIONAL OLYMPIAD

11.06.2026

The KNRTU team — Igor Merzlyakov, Shamil Gataullin, and Grigory Skorobogatov (all students of the Institute of Chemical Technology) — participated in the IX International Student Olympiad named after Professor K. F. Bogatykh in the discipline of "Processes and Apparatus of Chemical Technology," which was held at the Ufa State Petroleum Technological University.

As a result of the Olympiad, the KNRTU team regained its first place in the team competition, which it had won in 2023 and 2024. Igor Merzlyakov also took second place in the individual competition.

The Olympiad was attended by engineering students from all over Russia, as well as from Kazakhstan, Tajikistan, Uzbekistan, Angola, and other countries.

The winners of the Olympiad were traditionally awarded during the international specialized exhibition "Gas. Oil. Technologies-2026" and the Russian Petrochemical Forum, which are held in Ufa at the same time.

Team captain Igor Merzlyakov:

— It was a great privelege for me to be a part of this Olympiad. Despite the fact that it was my second time participating, the tasks were no less interesting, and the spirit of competition only intensified. The organizing team once again demonstrated a high level of preparation, making me want to come back again and again. It is crucial to meet the "engineering intelligentsia" who come from all over the country at events like this, as they are the scientists, engineers, and designers of the future, and they can provide valuable advice and assistance. I am eternally grateful to my mentors, Alexander Malygin and Alexander Razinov, for their fundamental knowledge and the opportunity to represent my university internationally.
