A group of scientists from the Institute of Polymers at KNRTU took part in the VI All-Russian Forum with International Participation "NOVOMED-2026". The colleagues spoke at the key session "From Innovative Raw Materials to the Production of High-Tech Medical Devices," where they discussed issues of import substitution and Russia's technological independence in the healthcare sector.
In his presentation, the Director of the Institute of Polymers, Ildar N. Musin, spoke about the challenges and solutions in the medical polymer industry. He emphasized the need for a sustainable cooperative model of interaction among all industry participants.
"The modern development of polymers for medicine cannot be considered in isolation. The key is to form a consortium that brings together regulatory bodies, developers, and manufacturers.
This allows for the creation of effective and safe solutions that go through a full cycle, from material development to clinical implementation," said Ildar Nalelevich. Ildar Musin also noted that an important area of research at the Institute of Polymers at KNRTU is the comprehensive study of the behavior of polymer materials after various types of sterilization, such as steam, gas, radiation, and chemical sterilization.
He emphasized that the data obtained make it possible to assess the stability of the material structure and predict its performance characteristics. Based on these studies, approaches to modeling and calculating the predicted storage and service life of medical devices are being developed, which is crucial for ensuring their safety and reliability in clinical practice.
