On the 14th of July renovated Kazan Central Department Store (Tsum) hosted solemn Graduation ceremony of Light Industry Technologies, Fashion and Design Institute.

Institute Director, Natalia V. Tikhonova gave a speech to the newly-qualified specialists embracing their professional life:

"It is not just a education certificate you are given today but a pass to an immense industry. Remember: our occupation main rule is that behind a visible simplicity there is always colossal work of an designer, technologist and a tailoress. Do not scare difficult challenges seek your roots in art and couragely express yourselves."

Right after the official part the demonstration of Students' best works began. First collection to be demonstrated was made by Seda Arutiunian who introduced the line ispired by the filming of "Cinderella" tale. Imitation of crystal shoes made up the main motive. They were transformed into complex structure of creative embroidery made of bead drops. The technique of "Sewn on elements with volume effect" was applied in this case.

"This technique lies in modern interpretation of classic couturier methods. Embroidery is made of short threads or bead drops sewn on the fabric on a short distance from each other. Vertical firection of elements creates visual "flow" and prolongues the siluet" - Seda Artiunian said.

Corsets became the central element of the collection. According to the graduate, their construction has become the main technical difficulty of the project. The knowledge gained over the years of study helped to achieve the perfect fit.:

"In the process, we mastered various design methods, including special technique — it helped to translate my idea into finished products."

Renata Shaikhutdinova presented her work next. Her collection is based on a contrast of styles: the designer has reinterpreted a 19th-century Cavalry uniform and a quilted padded jacket, adapting them for a modern women's wardrobe. The key decorative element is the lacing, which is interpreted using the trapunto technique, a three-dimensional embroidery that creates a relief pattern.

"The Trapunto technique played an important role in the development of the collection, as it helped to display the classic military style element in a non-standard way, stylizing it as a stitch on vests and jackets," said Renata Shaikhutdinova.

According to her, working on the products required high technical precision, and difficulties arose during the sewing of the basic jacket, which had to maintain a rigid shape.

The scientific supervisor of the project was associate professor of the department Elena Kumpan, it was she who proposed using the trapunto technique to solve design problems. The collection is made according to the capsule principle, where all products are combined with each other. The basic model, combining a chiffon skirt, a light blouse, a vest with trapunto elements and a military-style jacket, reflects the main idea of the designer.:

"We wanted to show that the military style, despite its constructive rudeness, can be easily integrated into everyday wardrobe and even into romantic images."

The graduates noted that they had already started applying their theoretical knowledge in practice during their studies. This allowed them to present cohesive collections that combined complex design techniques while maintaining the current agenda of the fashion industry.

The event concluded with the presentation of a special collection. This ambitious project was created by a team of faculty members and students from the institute and symbolized a return to their roots. It featured ethnic motifs from various ethnic groups in the Volga region, including Tatars, Chuvash, and others.

According to Albina Zufarova, a senior lecturer at the Department of Materials and Technologies in the Light Industry and one of the project curators, a variety of techniques were used to create the collection: traditional embroidery was combined with 3D printing, and both complex handicrafts and modern methods of material processing were employed, ensuring the impeccable quality of the products.

This work demonstrated the main idea of the entire exhibition. The collection symbolizes not only the friendship of nations, but also the unity of all the institute's specialties.

"Completely different competencies are used here: everything related to creating clothes, designing textiles, working with accessories, and visual effects. This collection combines the entire production cycle, from sketches to finished looks, proving that unity is born in the details," concluded Natalia Tikhonova.
