The business newspaper “Business‑Online” published an article devoted to economic education in Tatarstan universities, which produced a rating‑navigator of educational programs at universities in the Republic of Tatarstan. In total, 40 educational programs implemented at 12 universities in the republic were analyzed. The top spot goes to “Economics” at KNRTU!

The rating was compiled by well‑known scientists and popularisers of science and education: Alexey Lopatin, PhD, Associate Professor, and Anna Svirina, PhD, Professor. They developed a unique methodology in which they sought to minimize the subjective “expert” assessment of universities. The focus was on analyzing the quality of programs and the readiness of graduates for the labor market.

According to the ranking’s creators, there are two reasons for the leadership of KNRTU’s programs: future economists here study statistics and economic models in detail. Moreover, unlike most other programs, these disciplines run like a thread through all four years of an economist’s studies, rather than ending with courses in statistics and econometrics. Cooperation with SIBUR has led to the development of modern equipment and software, which is also available to economics students.

These reasons set the training of economists at KNRTU apart from many universities that mass‑produce people with an “economics‑blogger” education. As the authors of the article wittily write, “economics bloggers” are excellent at discussing inflation, sanctions, investments, and regional development in the kitchen or on a Telegram channel, while successfully avoiding numbers. They are specialists in narrative and presentations, not in economics itself.

At the Institute of Innovation Management at KNRTU, they teach data analysis using mathematical and statistical methods.
