The Volga Federal District Championship and Cup in cheerleading were held in Nizhny Novgorod. The sporting event brought together about 1,500 of the strongest athletes from 13 regions of the country — from Tatarstan and the Moscow region to the Perm Territory — on one venue. The Republic of Tatarstan was represented at competitions of this level by the KNRTU “NCT” team, which consisted of 24 athletes.

Our athletes participated in two disciplines within the cheerleading category. In the “mixed cheerleading group,” a large team performs on the floor simultaneously, where judges evaluate not only the choreography but also the perfect synchronization, the complexity of acrobatic sequences, jumps, and spectacular formations. In turn, the “mixed cheerleading stunting” is the most physically demanding category, in which athletes demonstrate complex figures (stunts), throws, and pyramids. Such elements require incredible physical fitness, partner awareness, and absolute trust within the mixed team.

According to the results of the official standings of the Volga Federal District Championship, the KNRTU “NCT” team took first place in the “cheerleading group‑mixed” and “cheerleading stunts‑mixed” disciplines.

“Last season was rather unproductive for us in terms of wins: we had a young squad, and there were many injuries. This year, the guys were motivated, and the squad didn’t shrink — it only grew stronger.” “These are the first competitions of the new season, and it’s a great start; we’ll keep working,” said Rafkat Sakhapov, the team’s head coach, commenting on the team’s successful performance.
