The Department was established in 2005, and since then it has been chaired by Doctor of Science, Full Professor, fellow of Russian Designers Union Venera Khammatova.

Academics

The Department runs Specialist Degree programs in “Design” and “Art Design of Suit”.

Research

Research in the Department is prevalent in applied science problems:

• new look garment design;
• modern suit modeling;
• fine and applied arts.

Fashion theatre “Modern” was established in 2002 under the leadership of Venera V. Khammatova. The participants of Fashion theatre “Modern” are involved in the performances, arranged by Kazan National Research Technological University and other municipal organizations.

Since 2001 the Department has been running a college of pre-university training “Design”, which offers programs for university applicants in drawing, painting and composition. Every year over 50 students attend the college.

In 2005 the Department established Art School under the leadership of Professor Venera V. Khammatova on the basis of the Institute of Additional Professional Education, majoring in vocational guidance and additional professional training in design of author’s sketches, accessories design, interior design, fabric dyeing (“batik”), drawing and painting technology, information technology in design.
