The Department of Inorganic Substances and Material Engineering was established in 1930 under the leadership of Full Professor A.Y. Bogorodsky. It was the first department of our University which ran Specialist Degree programs for students. Since 2000 Doctor of Chemistry, Full Professor Aleksey I. Khatsrinov has served as Department Chair.

Academics

The Department runs the following Specialist Degree programs “Chemical Technology of Inorganic Substances”, “Chemical Technology of Heat Resistant Nonmetallic and Silicate Materials”.

Research

• physics and chemistry of composite and polymer inorganic materials;
• electrochemical and inorganic composite materials and coatings;
• integrated utilization of technogenic and non-traditional feedstock;
• ecology and catalyst technology.

Professors of the Department collaborate with Research Institutes and Industrial Enterprises of Russia and the Tatarstan Republic. Among them: Arbuzov Institute of Organic and Physical Chemistry, JSC "Karpov Chemical Plant", JSC “Kazanorgsintez” and others.
