Round Table “European Standards for Quality Assurance, Circular Economy, and Intercultural Communication”

15.07.2021

On July 8th, 2021, KNRTU hosted the round table “European Standards for Quality Assurance, Circular Economy, and Intercultural Communication”. It was organized within the framework of the Erasmus+ Jean Monnet Module “The European Union Entrepreneurial Environment at HEIs: Changing the World by Technology Ventures”. The round table was a part of the “Polymer Engineer Day” event organized by the KNRTU Institute of Polymers.

The round table was preceded by the survey into the knowledge of regional and national polymer industry companies of the EU experience in standardization, innovative entrepreneurship, and circular economy. The survey was organized during the 2019-2020 academic year. The survey participants answered a series of questions focusing on differences between European and Russian values in innovative entrepreneurship. The survey revealed the gap in knowledge of Russian polymer industry specialists about EU policies and best practices in innovative entrepreneurship standards and values as well as in lean production and circular economy. The survey results contributed to the development of this round table program.

The round table program offered the presentations that focused on the EU expertise in innovative entrepreneurship, lean production, and circular economy. The KNRTU Vice Rector for Academic Affairs Dilbar Sultanova, the leader of the current Jean Monnet module project, analyzed approaches of EU and Asian countries to circular economy. Deputy Director of “Tatneftehiminvest-holding” Leysan Abzalilova overviewed the strategies of EU companies in green chemistry. The Head of Innovations Department at “Egida” company Timofey Kalinin considered recycling and ecological initiatives as the necessary prerequisites for the development of an industrial company.

The round table was finalized with the presentations of “Kastamonu” and “Nefis Kosmetics” companies that also gave a certain focus to circular economy.

In total, this event gathered over 30 representatives of regional, national, and international polymer industry companies. Over 70 KNRTU students visited this round table.
