The Department aims at providing physical education classes to all students of the University.

Academics

The Department gives classes in compulsory Physical Education to all students of the University:

• 1st and 2d year students – 4 contact hours per week;
• 3d and 4th year students – 2 contact hours per week.

Students can either choose to train just to be fit or they can join different clubs where they can train semi-professionally and get new challenges. There are over 18 clubs and over 900 students attend them, they are: basketball, volleyball, tennis, ping-pong, tourism, national wrestling (kuresh), boxing, aerobics, athletics, football, skiing, karate, chess, and etc.

KNRTU teams participate in local, federal and international championships. The University teams are leaders in sports among Tatarstan universities.

Research

The main topic for research at the Department is “Development of efficient fitness training methods for students”.
