Roman Kopyrin, a student of the Faculty of Chemistry and Polymer Technology in Medicine and Cosmetics, won a one-year scholarship of a YEAR program (Year of Exchange in America for Russians). He will spend the 2020-2021 academic year at the Neosho County Community College, USA. This is the first KNRTU student who successfully passed all the qualifying stages. Roman said, "I found out about this program from Gulnaz Fakhretdinova, teacher of the KNRTU Lingua School. At the first stage, all necessary documents should be prepared. These are letters of recommendation, certificates, diplomas, an academic transcript, and a motivational letter. The next stage was an interview that was conducted online by three interviewers, who alternately asked me questions about the purpose of participation in the program. The final stage of selection process was passing the TOEFL exam. I recommend participating in various programs and using every opportunity to gain new experience and knowledge." The YEAR program provides Russian students aged 18-20 with a unique opportunity to study for one year at higher education institutions in the United States, conduct a meaningful dialogue with local communities, and familiarize Americans with the history and culture of Russia. In addition to term paper, students take part in various public projects, conduct three interviews with professionals in the areas related to academic interests. Interviews provide an opportunity to learn more about the American workplace and how academic research turns into professional experience. The program is fully sponsored by the US government, and includes transfer from the hometown to the hosting college or university in the US, tuition, living expenses, health insurance, arrival orientation and support program available 24 hours a day. All participants must return to Russia for at least two years after graduation. For more information visit the website https://yearofexchange.org. |
