Andrey Popkov, a 4th-year student of the Faculty of Petroleum and Petrochemistry (FPP), won a two-year scholarship at the Danish Technical University (DTU).

Andrey said, "I found out about the YEAR program at the faculty, where I studied. In my second year of studies, a student, who had studied in Denmark, shared his own experience to KNRTU students. He told everything so interestingly, and probably at that moment I had an idea to get the same experience."

A month after going through all the stages of obtaining the grant, Andrey received an invitation to study at the Danish Technical University for free. In addition, Haldor Topsoe awarded the student a scholarship that would cover all necessary expenses for 22 months of study.

Haldor Topsoe and KNRTU have long and effective cooperation. In 2016, on the basis of the KNRTU Lyceum for Gifted Children a class named after the company's founder was opened. Every year Lyceum students take part in the International Haldor Topsoe Olympiad. Lyceum graduate Daria Ermakova, who is now a student of KNRTU, won an Internship in Copenhagen in 2017. In 2019, Haldor Topsoe and KNRTU signed an agreement to conduct research in the field of catalyst regeneration. The Faculty of Petroleum and Petrochemistry hosts Haldor Topsoe Days – training sessions on the problems of catalysis for the KNRTU Lyceum students. The best KNRTU students are awarded a scholarship to study for a Master's program at DTU.

Andrey Popkov expresses gratitude to the Department of Foreign Languages for preparing for the TOEFL exam, and to the Department of International Affairs for translating the necessary documents, and advises all students to be bold and persistent. "There are a lot of programs for studying abroad, so you just need to apply, and if you haven’t succeeded for the first time, then gather yourself up and try again and again," – he said.
