On October 28, the British publication - Times Higher Education (THE) published the updated results of the THE World University Rankings by Subject. Compared to last year, the representation of Russian education in the ranking has increased from 39 up to 48 universities. Kazan National Research Technological University was included in the 801-1000 group.

42 Russian universities were represented in the Engineering & Technology subject area. KNRTU took 25th place with a final score of 14.4–20.3 (a year earlier it was 9.3-18.4) among them. Educational institutions are assessed according to 5 indicators: Citation, Industry Income, International Outlook, Research and Teaching. KNRTU has improved in three positions: International Outlook (+ 5 points), Research (+12 points) and Citation (+9.7 points). The level of achievement was determined on basis of the results of a statistical analysis of the activities of universities, as well as an annual expert survey of representatives of the international academic community and employers.
