First Meeting of the Russian-Kazakhstan Consortium

On February 18 Kazan State Power Engineering University organized the first meeting of working group of the Consortium of Russia and Kazakhstan technical universities. The meeting was attended by representatives of universities-members of the Consortium from all over Russia and Kazakhstan including KNRTU.

During the event the Working Group participants announced the main results and prospects for the development of cooperation between Russia and Kazakhstan universities within the framework of the Consortium, representatives of universities made reports both online and offline.

The event was opened by Sergey Glazyrin, a representative of the Eurasian National University named after Gumilyov (Kazakhstan), who is our long-term partner. He considered the cooperation of universities in Russia and Kazakhstan as promising for the development of double degree programs and increasing the academic mobility of students and teachers within the framework of the Consortium.

KNRTU Vice Rector for Research Aleksandr Kopylov noted the main results and prospects of our join work with the universities of Kazakhstan, which are both the participants of Consortium and other leading universities. He also mentioned the main research directions and topics of our joint work.

The meeting participants also made interesting proposals for the future work of the Consortium. Thus, Alexander Kopylov introduced the idea of creating a website for the Consortium, which will become a platform for an instant online dialogue of all participating universities.

At the end of the meeting, the representative of the East Kazakhstan Technical University named after Daulet Serikbayev added that they have long-term cooperation with our university in some major areas, such as medical engineering, Environmental Engineering and others. Our scientists exchange experience and research results. KNRTU employees participate in events held at their university. She also invited representatives of Kazan universities to Kazakhstan for experience exchanging and for conducting joint scientific research.

This event was the first within the work of the Consortium. As a result it was decided to accept all proposals for future work and, possibly, to organize the next Meeting in Kazakhstan.
