KNRTU STUDENT WINS 2ND PLACE AT THE INTERNATIONAL KENDO CHAMPIONSHIP

09.10.2024

On October 5-6, the traditional international kendo championship Serbia Kendo Open 2024 took place in Belgrade, Serbia. The event united 170 top athletes from Europe and Asia.

This year the Russian national team took part in the championship, despite the fact that our country is not a member of the European Kendo Federation. This was due to the active position of the All-Russian Kendo Federation and the implementation of the strategy of kendo-diplomacy - the desire to develop cultural and sports cooperation with all countries. Thanks to this approach, Russian athletes have the opportunity to improve their skills in accordance with the highest international standards.

The Russian national team took an honorable second place, losing only one point to the Hungarian team in the final. The Russian team consisted of 6 athletes, including Anatoly Segal, a second-year bachelor’s degree student of the Institute of Petroleum, Chemistry and Nanotechnologies of KNRTU.

Support and assistance in the development of kendo in Russia is provided by Oleg Deripaska's Foundation for the Development of Medicine and Sports.
