KNRTU is actively developing its partnership with China. The university successfully operates a Double Degree Program with Beijing University of Chemical Technology and collaborates with industrial enterprises in China. As part of one such initiative, KNRTU hosted a delegation from the China National Petroleum Corporation (CNPC), led by Qi Dongtao, Deputy Director of CNPC TGRI, and Cai Ke, Head of CNPC TGRI’s Russian Department.

The guests were given a tour of buildings D, E, and L, showcasing spaces built in collaboration with KNRTU’s industrial partners and the laboratories of the Advanced Engineering School "Promkhimtech". “We have established specialized laboratories for conducting a wide range of research. Many of our scientific projects are commissioned by industrial partners, and ultimately, the solutions and developments created within our university find practical applications,” said Professor Alexey Khatsrinov, Head of the Department of Inorganic Substances and Material Engineering. The main goal of the Chinese delegation’s visit was to discuss the creation of a joint “Belt and Road” laboratory focused on advanced petrochemical technologies. The planned laboratory will specialize in five key areas: • Research and development of technological furnaces • Research and development of pipeline valves • Research and production of activated carbon • Research and enhancement of catalysts • Research and development of cooling towers

Funding for the laboratory’s establishment will come from China’s Ministry of Science and Technology, with optional contributions from industrial companies. The total project budget is approximately 150 million yuan (2 billion rubles), with an estimated allocation of 20–30 million yuan per laboratory. KNRTU faces several critical tasks necessary for the successful operation of the laboratory, including scientific support for research, providing modern developments for practical applications, training laboratory personnel, and ensuring ongoing scientific assistance.

“The ‘Belt and Road’ joint laboratory initiative aims to create a network of collaborative research centers that drive innovation, foster international scientific cooperation, and address global challenges by enhancing technological independence. For our university, it is an excellent opportunity to showcase its potential on the global stage. Moreover, we possess all the necessary competencies required to establish a large-scale laboratory at KNRTU,” said Leysan Dogadina, Director of the University Development Program Management Office.
