KNRTU biotechnologists presented an innovative project dedicated to the use of artificial intelligence to recognize microorganisms in activated sludge, which is used in the process of waste neutralization. The project was developed under the guidance of Elena Balymova, Associate Professor of the Department of Industrial Biotechnology of KNRTU, and Tatiana Polevaya, postgraduate student of KNRTU.
The research is aimed at automating the process of identification of microorganisms, which can significantly increase the efficiency of biological wastewater treatment.
The development was presented at the program “Modern Artificial Intelligence in Higher Education”, where it was highly appreciated by the jury. The experts noted the relevance and practical significance of the development, as well as its potential in the field of ecology and biotechnology.
The use of machine learning algorithms and neural networks opens new possibilities for analyzing and monitoring the condition of activated sludge, which contributes to the improvement of wastewater treatment processes and environmental protection.
“KNRTU continues to actively develop scientific research in the field of biotechnology, and this project is a vivid example of integration of modern technologies into the educational process. I am proud of the achievements of our research group and I am confident that this work will make a significant contribution to the future of biotechnology,” shared Elena Balymova.
