EXHIBITION OF PAINTINGS OPENED IN KNRTU

14.02.2025

On the second floor of the building “L”, next to the SIBUR company brand zone, an exposition of paintings by students of the Institute of Light Industry, Fashion and Design of KNRTU is presented.

“The exhibition originated spontaneously. A kind of incentive for the exhibition organization was the acquaintance of First-Year Bachelor’s Degree students with KNRTU laboratories: we gave a task to write what the university is associated with. First-year and senior students, as well as undergraduates and graduates presented their works” - said Elena Zabello, Chair of the Educational Workshop of the Department of Service Technologies.

The paintings presented at the exhibition are painted in various techniques – these are oil, acrylic and graphic works. The subjects also vary: from psychological portraits of women to the inner spaces of the university.

In one of the paintings, students easily recognize the university’s semi-rotunda with the colonnade of Building “A”.

“In my opinion, the main building of KNRTU with a colonnade looks majestic and therefore is associated with the university. The second of my paintings at the exhibition depicts Kremlin: Kazan inspires me with its architecture,” explains Anastasia Larina, First-Year Bachelor’s Degree student.

From another canvas, a girl with a scarf with Russian ornaments looks thoughtfully towards the audience. The author of this painting was jointly searched for a long time by the Press Center of KNRTU and faculty of the Institute of Light Industry, Fashion and Design. When the artist was found, it turned out that at the time of the creation of this article she was abroad: after graduation she worked as a senior lecturer at the Institute of Light Industry, Fashion and Design, and later moved to Turkiye, where she is now working in the field of interior design.

“I was surprised when I got the call: I gave the painting of a girl in a scarf to the Institute back in 2018. At the class, we were given a reference, which was the first time I painted with oil paints. We studied a special technique: the base had to be pressed into the canvas with fingers, and the details of the drawing had to be painted with a brush. The canvas came out realistic. The best pieces were requested by the faculty to be left at the Department. Unexpectedly, the girl in a scarf that I loved became an exhibit six years later,” says Ekaterina Yarullina, a graduate of KNRTU.
