THE SYMBIOSIS OF SCIENCE, ART AND ECOLOGY IN THE NEW CLOTHING COLLECTION “SPRING AT KNRTU”

On the eve of International Women's Day, the creative team of the Engineering Center of the Institute of Light Industry, Fashion and Design prepared an unusual and inspiring project—a clothing collection called “Spring at KNRTU”. The basis for this collection was made up of previously used materials such as bubble wrap and chemical laboratory equipment.

Each model is a symbiosis of science, art, and ecology. Flasks, test tubes, and other elements of laboratory equipment that once served for experiments have found a second life as unique decorations. Enhanced with bright beads and textile cords, they become stylish and original accessories. Clothing and jewelry made from recycled materials symbolize a careful attitude towards resources and inspire creative solutions to preserve the environment.

Bubble wrap has taken on a new meaning and transformed into tangible wardrobe items. The KNRTU team played with forms, creating a coat-balloon, lantern sleeves, a balloon skirt, and boots with a heel made from propylene spheres. The base of the lower part of the collection is a membrane raincoat fabric—a kind of gray “foundation” that beautifully contrasts with the transparency and lightness of the bubble wrap.

By the way, anticipating the students' interest in the bubble wrap, the university's creative team prepared specially cut strips of this material. These strips can be taken home and popped for fun.

“May this International Women's Day be remembered not only for the warm words, but also for the care for the future of our planet, inspiring everyone to take action to protect the environment,” said Elena Zabello, Head of the Educational Workshop at the Department of Service Technologies, as she congratulated everyone on the upcoming holiday.
