Within the framework of the conference “Food Technologies and Biotechnologies”, scheduled for April 21-25, 2025, the first Science and Education Festival BioFest will be held at KNRTU for the first time.

The idea behind the festival came from Elena Perushkina and Elena Balymova, Associate Professors at the Department of Industrial Biotechnology. In April 2024, Elena Perushkina presented the BioFest project at an educational intensive course organized by ITMO University, and received mentor support from speakers of Skolkovo Tech, Yandex Education, Sberbank’s Startup Accelerator, leading specialists from the Center for Science Communication of ITMO University and the Centre for Student Academic Development of HSE University. This year, the project, featuring coworking zones from university biolabs and industrial partners, a scientific quest in the History Museum of KNRTU, and lectures by popular science popularizers, will be implemented at KNRTU for the first time.

“The format of the event will appeal to pupil interested in biotechnology and food technologies. We expect participation from students all over the region, who will compete in a case championship and contest for research papers. This year, we decided to hold methodological seminars for chemistry and biology teachers during BioFest. Additionally, we plan to establish strong partnership with industrial enterprises supporting the festival and providing cases for the students,” shared Elena Perushkina.

As part of the festival, a competition for research papers will be held. KNRTU invites school students in grades 5-11 and college students to participate. Applications are accepted until March 17th, and more details can be found here (in Russian).
