KNRTU TEAM WON SILVER AT THE ALL-RUSSIAN STUDENT ATHLETICS CHAMPIONSHIP

20.03.2025

From March 12th to 14th, 2025, the Winter Russian Student Athletics Championship took place in the city of Tula. The sporting event brought together over 400 students from 57 universities across the country, including KNRTU. The competitions were held in both individual and team events across two groups. Our team, led by coach Alexander Petrov, secured second place in the overall team standings after a hard-fought competition, finishing just 3 points behind the winners.

Additionally, our team secured five prize-winning places in individual events. Damir Gainutdinov (Institute of Food Engineering and Biotechnology) took gold in the triple jump and silver in the long jump. Valeria Gromova (Institute of Food Engineering and Biotechnology) became a winner in the 60-meter hurdles. Meanwhile, Daniil Peskov earned silver in the 200-meter race and bronze in the 400-meter race.

“The students gave it everything they had – 200%. They are champions we are proud of. But only the coaches know how much effort the athletes put in to achieve these results at the competition. The prize-winning place was hard-earned: the championship brought together participants from across the country, and other universities were also well-prepared. The team was especially motivated after the results of the first competition day: we took the lead and decided to hold onto at least an intermediate result to secure a spot among the winners. We were just a little short of winning gold in the overall team standings. Since this was our first time at this championship, we are very pleased with the result. The summer championship is ahead and we will do our best to win,” said Alexander Petrov, the coach of KNRTU team.

We wish the young athletes of KNRTU continued success!
