GYMNASIUM STUDENTS FROM CHUVASHIA STUDY LEAN PRODUCTION METHODS AT KNRTU

28.03.2025

Students from Gymnasium No. 8 in the city of Shumerlya participated in a lean manufacturing workshop at the Department of Innovation in Chemical Engineering of KNRTU. In the Lean Production Laboratory the students worked on optimizing an actual manufacturing process - automotive fuel pump assembly. The laboratory replicates all stages of the technological process in real-time, from warehouse operations to final product inspection.

The gymnasium students learned how to set up a production line: they determined how to organize the workspace for maximum efficiency, assigned roles—learning to work as a team by defining responsibilities—purchased equipment, analyzed how investments affect production, evaluated personal protective equipment, and accounted for workplace comfort and safety.

After each round, the young specialists analyzed results, proposed improvements, and implemented new strategies. In addition to practical work, the training included theoretical sessions where students got acquainted with digital tools in manufacturing.

“This was our first hands-on experience with the topic at such depth – incredibly valuable! Our sincere thanks to the KNRTU instructors!” said Pavel Osipov, the group leader.
