Fundamentals of Chemical Engineering for Hydrocarbon Processing

This course provides you with a structured overview of the theoretical fundamentals of chemical engineering for hydrocarbon processing. The course is aimed to develop effective skills in the analysis of chemical phenomena occurring during hydrocarbon processing (petroleum refining, natural and LPG gases processing, solid fossil fuels processing) based on the knowledge of thermodynamics and chemical kinetics. Seminars give experiences in: determining the direction of chemical reactions of hydrocarbon processing, predicting the composition and properties of products, recommending the most favorable conditions of technological processes, using the knowledge of thermodynamics and reaction kinetics in hydrocarbon processing for solving practical problems.

By the end of this course, you will be able to:

1. Solve problems in the thermodynamics and kinetics of hydrocarbon processing technologies;

2. Explain the basic laws underlying petroleum processing technologies,appraise the influence of main factors on the chemical processes of petroleum processing, choose the most favorable conditions for chemical processes of petroleum processing, predict the composition and properties of the resulting products;

3. Explain the basic laws underlying hydrocarbon gas processing technologies, appraise the influence of main factors on the chemical processes of hydrocarbon gas processing, choose the most favorable conditions for the chemical processing of hydrocarbon gas, predict the composition and properties of the resulting products;

4. Demonstrate understanding of solid fossil fuel processing technologies
