History

The Department was established in 1938. Its founder and the first Head of the Department was A.V. Ognev, who was a famous in Kazan specialist in geometry and excellent graphic artist.

At the present time the department consists of 21 people, 12 of whom are teachers. Since 2019 the department has been headed by Dr. Asiya G. Mukhametzyanova.

The tasks of the department:

To follow the traditions of engineering education, preserving the classical school of teaching descriptive geometry and engineering graphics and enhancing it with the modern capabilities of computer graphics.

Main goal of the department:

Improvement of the educational process and research with the maintenance and enhancement of high-quality faculty and pedagogical staff.

The department gives the courses of 6 disciplines:
- Engineering Graphics;
- Engineering and Computer Graphics;
- Computer Graphics;
- Descriptive Geometry;
- Descriptive Geometry and Engineering Computer Graphics;
- Modern Packages for Design Documentation Development.

Research

Research at the department focuses on the following areas:

1. Use of Educational Technologies in Teaching Courses of Descriptive Geometry and Engineering Graphics.
2. Application of Information Technologies in Graphical Training of Students of Technical Universities, as well as 3-D Prototyping.
3. Modeling of hydrodynamics and interrelated processes of heat and mass transfer complicated by chemical reactions in turbulent flows, based on computational fluid dynamics methods.
4. Heat- and mass-exchange processes in disperse systems.
5. Heat radiation of liquid metals and alloys.
6. The Study of Thermophysical Properties of Metals and Alloys.
7. The investigation of thermal physical properties of polymers and composites on their basis.
8. Radiation and conductive heat exchange of hydrocarbons.
