The co-founders of the Department are Federal State Unitary Enterprises: Zelenodolsk production association “POZIS” , Russian Federal Nuclear Center and State Research Institute “Krystall”.

Academics

The Department runs Bachelor’s, Specialist and Master’s Degree programs in “Material Science and New Materials Technology” and “Technology of Energy Intensive Materials and Products”, both of full-time course of study.

Ph.D. Degree and Posdoctoral programs are also offered. The graduates are employed in research, design, academic, administrative and commercial institutions.

Research

The research at the Department bases on fundamental problems of:

• solid-state physics, physicochemistry and structural mechanics;
• explosion and burning physics of energy-intensive materials;
• nonconventional technologies of composites preparation;
• process safety.

• formulation of new energy intensive compositions and materials therefrom;
• technologies for special purpose products assembling/ disassembling;
• formulation of new family of special purpose products;
• formulation of environmentally friendly industrial explosives;
• oil well stimulation.

Stimulation methods of oil production being developed successfully under the leadership of Ph.D. Professor I. Sadikov, are of research priority at the Department.
