History

The Department was established in 1934. The first Head of the Department was German K. Dyakonov, who made a great contribution to the development of the similarity theory of physicochemical transformations. The Department developed educational programs for engineers in various fields of fast-growing industry.

Since 1934, the Department has defended 15 PhD and 99 candidate dissertations. Graduates and postgraduates have become distinguished researchers, directors of educational institutions and research institutes, including two Rectors, five Vice Rectors, six Deans, and fifteen Heads of Departments.

The Department offers the following programs:

Bachelor's Degree Program:

  • 13.03.01 Thermal Power Engineering and Heat Engineering (Major - "Energy of Thermal Technologies")

Master's Degree Program:

  • 13.04.01 Thermal Power Engineering and Heat Engineering (Program - "Supercritical Fluid Technologies for Hydrocarbon Feedstock Processing").

Research Activities

The Department of Theoretical Fundamentals of Heat Engineering is actively engaged in innovative research. The core of the innovation lies in fundamental and applied studies in the field of supercritical fluid states of matter.

  • Fundamental Research Laboratory of Thermophysics named after A.A. Tarzimanov (office B-102);
  • Biodiesel Sector of Integrated Laboratory of Supercritical Fluid Technologies (office A-38);
  • Sector of Thermophysical Properties of Integrated Laboratory of Supercritical Fluid Technologies (office A-27);
  • Petroleum Sector of Integrated Laboratory of Supercritical Fluid Technologies (office A-36);
  • Laboratory of Supercritical Methods of Nanoparticles Production (office A-28);
  • Laboratory of Supercritical Extraction (office A-19).

The Department is equipped with 3 specialized educational laboratories:

  • Thermodynamics;
  • Heat Transfer;
  • Energy of Thermal Technologies.
