As the Department of Plastics Processing Technology, it was separated from the Department of Plastics Technology in 1975 under the leadership of Professor A. Bogdanov.
Academics
The Department runs Specialist Degree programs in “Processing Technology of Plastics and Elastomers”, “Technology and Design of Packaging Industry”, “Food Engineering at Small Enterprises”.
Research
The research at the Department is focused on:
- nanotechnologies of composite materials and protective coatings and adhesives;
- corrosion protection of equipment;
- up-to-date methods for preparation polymers with use of small reactors;
- energy-and-resource-saving technique for polysulfur preparation;
- energy-and-resource-saving technique for preparation of colored products;
- computer technologies for processing of plastics;
- new types of polymer packaging materials;
- examination of polysulfide-based sealants;
- formulation of low-unsaturated-elastomer materials.
The Department is proud of its famous graduates engaged in management of enterprises leading in organic synthesis “Kazanorgsintez” OJSC , petrochemical synthesis “Nizhnekamskneftekhim” , manufacturing of polymer containers and packaging materials and “Polimiz” JSC, plastics production IZHEVSK PLASTICS PLANT JSC .
