The Department was established in 1995. The Department is chaired by Professor Andrey R. Tuzikov. The Department opens avenues for students in a wide range of fields and career paths. Graduates have used their degrees to jump start careers in politics, state and local government, social work.

Academics

The Department runs Specialist Degree program in “Public Administration”. It runs courses in Sociology, Public Administration, Political Science, Management Science, Sociology of Interethnic Relations for the various degree programs of the University.

The Department offers Ph.D. Degree programs and Posdoctoral positions in Sociology.

Research

Specialist fields in which the department has particular expertise include two main but diverse areas

state and municipal management (social and political aspects);
modern society (culture, ideology and safety).

The Department holds annual scientific conferences such as “Safety Issues in Russia’s Regions”, “Social Management in the Russian Society”, etc.

Professors have close links with research and educational institutions of Moscow and other cities of Russia.
