History

Technology of Cosmetics for chemical engineers was opened on the basis of the Institute of Polymers and Department of Physical and Colloidal Chemistry in 2000.

Training of bachelors in the field of Chemical Technology and masters in the program Technology of Cosmetic Products began in 2007.

Currently, Department of Technology of Cosmetic Products conducted training in three educational programs: Bachelor's degree program in the field of Chemical Technology, Chemical Technology of Synthetic Biologically Active Substances, Chemical-Pharmaceutical Products and Cosmetics, Master's programs Technology of Cosmetics and Innovative Entrepreneurship in the Production of Cosmetics.

From 2020, due to the high competition, the budget admission for the direction Chemical Technology and the profile Chemical Technology of Synthetic Biologically Active Substances has been doubled. The main focus of these programs is the development of formulations and analysis of cosmetic and cosmetic-hygienic products.

Research

The department conducts scientific research in the field of cosmetic products technology:
- Liquid crystal structures in cosmetics.
- Colloid-chemical properties of nonionic surfactants.
- Modification of surface properties of polymers by amphiphilic compounds.
- Study of structure and properties of polymer gels.
- Study of wetting phenomena in polymeric systems.
- Comparative analysis of wetting ability of surfactants.
- Preparation and properties of medical and cosmetic compositions with biologically active ingredients.
- Study of antioxidant and photoprotective activity of cosmetic compositions with natural extracts.
- Preparation and properties of cosmetic emulsions with new complex emulsifiers based on non-ionic surfactants.
- Study of the influence of organosilicon compounds and vegetable oils additives on surfactants foaming ability.
- Development of formulas for a wide range of cosmetics (shampoos, shower gels, facial cosmetic gels, lotions, deodorants, perfumery products, cosmetic emulsions) with new ingredients.
- Study of the influence of surfactant additives on the dispersion processes of carbon nanotubes and fullerenes in various liquid mediums.
- Development of formulations and technology for obtaining cosmetics with nanoscale ingredients.
