Russia Opens Its Boards for International Students from Countries with Improving Epidemiological Situation

By Order of the Government of the Russian Federation dated 16.03.2021 No. 639-p international students are allowed to return to Russia to continue their studies.

Students from 25 countries are allowed enter the Russian Federation: Abkhazia, Azerbaijan, Armenia, Belarus, Vietnam, Greece, Egypt, India, Kazakhstan, Qatar, Kyrgyzstan, Cuba, Maldives, United Arab Emirates, Seychelles, Serbia, Singapore, Tanzania, Turkey, Finland, Switzerland, Ethiopia, Republic of Korea, South Ossetia, and Japan.

The list of countries will be regularly updated.

There are three basic requirements for international students to enter Russia:

1. to notify the university by e-mail about the date of entry into the Russian Federation at least 10 days before arrival. Supporting information will be provided in the reply from the university.

2. to get COVID-19 PCR test (no earlier than 3 calendar days before arriving to Russia) and, if the result is negative, receive the corresponding document in Russian or English.

3. to take second PCR test (within 72 hours after entering the territory of Russia). Before the test results are available, the students must self-isolate at their dwelling. During the isolation period, students attend classes online. Without retesting, international students are not allowed to full-time classes.

If, during the period of self-isolation, foreign student has any of the respiratory illness symptoms (fever, sore throat, runny nose, and cough), he/she should immediately inform the university and call a physician.
