KNRTU PROFESSORS VISITED HANOI UNIVERSITY OF SCIENCE AND TECHNOLOGY (VIETNAM)

18.10.2024

Dmitry Prosvirnikov, Professor of the Department of Wood Processing, and Denis Tuntsev, Head of the Department of Chemical Cybernetics, have returned from a research trip to the School of Chemistry and Life Sciences at Hanoi University of Science and Technology. The visit of our scientists became possible thanks to the grant of the Government of the Republic of Tatarstan “Algarysh”.

KNRTU professors conducted joint research with colleagues from the working group of the Faculty of Chemical Engineering in the laboratory of nanocellulose on the processing of plant agricultural waste into nanocellulose. They also conducted joint research with the working group of the School of Food and Biotechnology on obtaining high-protein concentrates of vegetable protein and microbial protein from feedstock.

KNRTU professors also visited the Research Institute of Pulp and Paper Industry of Vietnam, got acquainted with laboratories and pilot production line of cellulose and paper. At the meeting with Cao Van Son, Head of the Research Institute, they discussed about the possibility of joint work in the field of research on the processing of plant biomass into cellulose and nanocellulose.

It should be noted that the development of technologies for the production of feed protein from biomass by-products is currently a priority all over the world. The possibility of extracting valuable biological products and nanomaterials from this type of feedstock attracts more and more attention of both governmental and business organizations seeking to effectively utilize biomass resources and implement closed-cycle economy approaches.

During working meetings with Vice-Rector of the School of Chemistry and Life Sciences Nguyen Hong Lien, Associate Professor of the School of Chemistry and Life Sciences Le Quang Zien, Dean of the Faculty of Chemical Engineering Dang Trung Dung, Associate Professor of the Department of Bioengineering Pham Tuan Anh, the possibilities of continuing joint research in the future under international grants in the context of the emerging expansion of cooperation in the field of science and technology between Russia and Vietnam, as well as ways to intensify academic exchanges of students and teachers between the two universities were discussed.

Based on the results of the meetings, an international cooperation agreement between KNRTU and Hanoi University of Science and Technology is being prepared, as well as joint publications with colleagues in international magazines.
